Two Arrests Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions follow a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people injured by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
