Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, demons, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.

Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose death initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.

The antagonist then settled his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The healer defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Planners groups.

Fans can anticipate finding out which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
